WINSLOW™ has been rated #1 in every test conducted by The Aviation Consumer since 1994 when the brutally critical publication conducted the first ever exhaustive testing and review of aviation life rafts. Their conclusion, "The WINSLOW is our first choice...by a large margin."
The next test conducted by the Aviation Consumer was in 1996. This test had an even more stringent follow-up evaluation with equally impressive results. The Aviation Consumer concluded that WINSLOW™ Life Rafts are "still superior to all others for general aviation use."
The Aviation Consumer's latest test was in 2000, this time with United States Coast Guard's Search and Rescue branch's full participation. They summed final results by stating, "Obviously not content to rest on their laurels, Winslow continues to lead the industry in performance and features. Their overall quality, performance and consideration of human factors made a strong impression..."
Specific to the WINSLOW™ Island Flyer™ Life Raft, the 2000 test revealed the following accolades:
The Aviation Consumer stated: "The improved GAST Island Flyer remains Best in Class and our choice for a capable single-tube general aviation raft." (July 2000). Call 800-838-3012 or email to get your free reprint of three years of test reports!
The independent Equipped To Survive Web site concludes that the "GAST Island Flyer is simply the best single-tube general aviation raft available." and
"The Island Flyer leads its class by a huge margin in capability."
AVweb, the Internet`s Aviation Magazine and News Service, sums up saying, "Best in class isn`t even close. The GAST Island Flyer takes top honors among all the single tube offerings."

WINSLOW General Aviation Life Rafts

Island Flyer Plus™
The WINSLOW™ Island Flyer Plus™ is designed to provide improved performance and safety over all other single tube general aviation life rafts. When tested at the overload capacity, which is one and one half the rated capacity, it successfully kept the testers out of the water, even with the loss of one air chamber. FAA requirements for a Type II single tube life raft states, “the complete life raft loaded to its rated capacity must have a freeboard of at least six inches.” The Island Flyer™ and Island Flyer Plus™ far exceed the minimum requirements even at overload capacity.
The oversized buoyancy tube with twin safety air chambers, single arch three position auto inflatable canopy support system with Sure-Seal™ closures on all openings, viewing ports (recommended by The Aviation Consumer), water activated interior and exterior survivor locator lights, auto deploying conical drogue and Tri-Ballast System™ reduces weight and bulk while the construction mirrors that of the WINSLOW™ FAA approved life rafts, costing thousands more. The WINSLOW™ Island Flyer Plus™ is the most advanced and capable single tube life raft available, nothing else comes close. The Island Flyer Plus™ is the perfect answer when you do not require the ultimate in survival equipment like the number one rated double tube FAA approved WINSLOW™ Ultima™ Life Raft, and yet the WINSLOW’s single tube non canopied life rafts do not meet your safety demands. The Island Flyer Plus™ is ideal for single and twin engine GA prop planes on short hauls, coastal flying or hopping out to the islands. It is identical in every way to the WINSLOW™ Island Flyer™ (shown below), but includes the WINSLOW™ exclusive view ports. In fact, the only difference in the WINSLOW™ Island Flyer™ and Island Flyer Plus™ are the view ports. The Aviation Consumer wrote in the July, 2000 issue of its recent life raft testing, "One popular feature was the viewing ports placed in the canopy, a potential antidote to seasickness. It’s superior to anything else in its class in terms of weather tightness. Hardly a drop came through the upgraded storm flaps on the zippers."

Island Flyer™
The WINSLOW™ Island Flyer™ Life Raft has been rated number one in its class since 1996 by The Aviation Consumer when it was first debuted. The Island Flyer™ shares many of the same critical survival features found in the number one rated WINSLOW™ FAA approved life rafts costing considerably more. The oversized buoyancy tube with twin safety air chambers, single arch three position auto inflatable canopy support system with Sure-Seal™ closures on all openings, water activated interior and exterior survivor locator lights, auto deploying conical drogue and Tri-Ballast System™ make the Island Flyer™ identical to the Island Flyer Plus™ (shown above). In fact, the only difference in the WINSLOW™ Island Flyer™ and Island Flyer Plus™ is the fixed view ports. Both of these life rafts are the most advanced and capable single tube life rafts available, nothing else in its class even comes close. It is ideal for the budget minded person where affordability without jeopardizing survivability is the goal or when space and weight are an issue. For the general aviation pilot, the WINSLOW™ Island Flyer™ Life Raft is the perfect answer. The Aviation Consumer noted, "The improved GAST Island Flyer™ remains best in class and our choice for a capable single-tube general aviation raft."

DualSafe™
The WINSLOW™ DualSafe™ Life Raft is more than a basic platform raft like the WINSLOW™ RescueRaft2™ or the more basic WINSLOW™ RescueRaft™ (both shown below). For the pilot looking for an extra margin of safety out of basic platform style raft, the DualSafe™ has twin oversized buoyancy tubes for complete redundancy. Should one tube fail from a non-repairable puncture, the remaining tube, being a complete a air chamber in itself, stays fully inflated and capable of supporting not only the life raft’s rated capacity of survivors, but has more than enough buoyancy to support the specified overload capacity of survivors, keeping them dry and better protected against hypothermia. Included with the DualSafe™ are the oversized dual buoyancy tubes, water activated exterior survivor locator light, auto deploying conical drogue and Tri-Ballast System™. The WINSLOW™ DualSafe™ is in a category by itself because it can be customized to include optional single arch three position auto inflatable canopy support system with Sure-Seal™ closures on all openings, interior survivor locator light, inflatable insulated double floor and StoreSafe™ heavy duty dry survival gear storage pockets. With the canopy and double floor (these options add protection against hypothermia and provide additional buoyancy), the WINSLOW™ DualSafe™ Life Raft duplicates much of the same basic functionality and survivability of the top rated FAA approved WINSLOW Ultima™ Life Raft at a considerably lower investment. Its unique customization capabilities and design makes it the perfect non-approved Part 91 “Trans Ocean” life raft.

RescueRaft2™
The WINSLOW™ RescueRaft2™ is an enhanced version over our basic platform raft, the WINSLOW™ RescueRaft™ (shown below). The enhancement comes in the form of twin safety air chambers built into the oversized single buoyancy tube design for added safety. Adding only minimal weight, this feature provides air chamber redundancy offering better protection against hypothermia and drowning. Other standard features include a primary boarding station, water activated exterior survivor locator light, auto deploying conical drogue and once inch lifelines. While not intended to be used as a life raft in offshore situations, the WINSLOW™ RescueRaft2™ provides a means of getting survivors off the downed aircraft, keeping them out of the water to help prevent hypothermia and drowning, and making them more visible while waiting for help to arrive. The RescueRaft2™ is the better solution for the pilot needing only a basic platform raft, but wants the extra safety margin of twin safety air chambers.

RescueRaft™
The WINSLOW™ RescueRaft™ is an extremely light safety survival product with minimal pack size. Some standard features include the primary boarding station, water activated exterior survivor locator light, auto deploying conical drogue and one inch lifelines. While not intended to be a life raft, for the pilot who requires absolute minimal weight and the smallest dimensional pack available, the RescueRaft™ provides the basic means of getting survivors off the downed aircraft and keeping them out of the water to prevent hypothermia and drowning while waiting Search and Rescue to arrive.
